WEC – 6 Hours of Fuji 2022: challenges, program, entries - US Sports

For the first time since 2019, the WEC returns to Japan and the 6 Hours of Fuji. The opportunity to focus on the challenges of this penultimate round of the 2022 World Endurance Championship season.

Japan performs his big comeback in the World Endurance Championship. Covid-19 got the better of the previous ones editions.

But in 2022the WEC returns to the 6 Hours of Fuji and passion of the Japanese for motorsport.

Last but one round of the 2022 season is likely to offer us great battles in all categories.

The meeting of the WEC in Japan takes place at the Fuji International Speedway. The circuit is located at 100km west of Tokyo, in the foothills of the iconic Mount Fuji.

Originally, the circuit was designed as a plot NASCAR-like. Very soon he was converted in circuit road. This is how the layout of 4.56 km.

It has one of the longest straight lines motorsport: 1.475km. At the end of this: the first turn. This is a natural opportunity to exceeding.

The circuit puts a strain on the machines all levels. Whether it be the power engine or efficiency aerodynamic.

The end of season approach and the stakes become more and more important. In the Hypercar category, there are two Toyotas, two Peugeots and an Alpine. The big one absent of this Japanese sleeve: Glickenhaus.

Toyota is a big favourite. As a reminder, these are the owners of this Fuji circuit. It is moreover the Japanese manufacturer which won the last 4 editions 6 Hours of Fuji.

But in the standings, it’s the Alpine crew who trust the first position with 10 dots ahead of the #8 Toyota. In the manufacturer rankings, it’s the opposite. Toyota leads with 15 dots ahead of Alpine.

In the other categories, we will still note the very small difference in GTE Pro. HAS two races of the end, single point separates the two leading crews, namely Ferrari and Porsche.

Attention however this weekend. The rain is expected at the Fuji circuit. The typhoon Hinnamnor fell on Japan Start of the week.

If its trajectory should pass North of the circuit, rain and thunderstorms are expected all along of the weekend.
